    Default Effective Bodybuilding Supplements

I've been using Puritox detox diet supplement to help me lose weight, and the results have been pretty good. However, I've started getting into bodybuilding and I would like to know which supplements are regarded as the most effective for adding muscle. I've invested in a set of Powerblock dumbells and I'm ready to go! Any advice on trainiing routines as well would be appreciated.

Hi Dozer, welcome to the forum.

I have never used Puritox detox diet myself, but im sure the guys on here would be happy to assist you in your training goals. As you likely know there are many different types of sports supplements. Could you advise more on your goals and current training cycles?

I would love to be able to help

Excellent! I've gone from just over 17 stone down to about 13 stone in a year. I wanted to lose weight before bulking up, so that I could actually see the results. I understand that free weights (dumbbells) are the best, so I've invested in some Powerblocks. I plan to exercise for up to 30 minutes a day, 3 days per week to start. What supplement would you recommend? I know that everybody is different, but it would be nice to get an independent opinion.

Hey Dozer, first off, wow, well done. Great results. I love the Powerblocks myself as well.

So which country are you based in. So I can advise you on the best supplement stack for your goals?

Wow, well done on the weight loss Dozer! 4 stone is impressive. You must feel like a different guy.

One of the common problems witnessed with weight loss is the loss of muscle mass due to catabolism. I typically recommend anybody who is trying to lose weight to maintain a good weights programme throughout to minimise any muscle loss. Muscle loss is bad for one main reason: for every 1lb of muscle you lose, your body will burn on average 1200 kcal less per week. Building muscle now is also building your metabolsm and will be essential for maintaining your goals long term.

There are many supplements which may benefit you, but my first choice would be the use of a good testosterone booster to promote an anabolic environment, allowing you to build muscle mass quickly. There are many options in this respect and you will see many reviews on this site. I personally recommend Taurotest by Anabolic Designs though. Follwoing that a good lean whey protein will also act as a great support product.

Me, I'd say huge doses of Glutamine, BCAA's and a very high quality protein supplement. Keep dosing regular and high doses through the day consistently and with no excuses.
